Leading asset manager Pictet Asset Management has appointed Doc Horn as Head of Total Return Equities, with effect from 1st July 2017......

Doc Horn Head of Total Return Equities, Pictet Asset Management


Based in London, he will report to Philippe de Weck, Chief Investment Officer, Equities.

Previously at UBS O’Connor, the hedge fund manager, Doc spent eleven years managing equity long-short portfolios and heading investment teams. At Pictet Asset Management, he will oversee seven equity long-short teams based in Geneva, London, Tokyo, Singapore and Hong Kong.

Philippe de Weck, CIO Equities, said, “Doc joins a business that is one of the 10 largest UCITS hedge fund managers in Europe and among the region’s top 20 hedge fund managers.* In a low return environment, his appointment reflects our commitment to total return strategies.”

At 30 June 2017, Pictet Asset Management’s Total Return fund range had assets under management of USD 7.4 billion, invested in seven long-short strategies. The range includes the following long-short funds: Atlas (global equity), Corto (Europe equity), Mandarin (Greater China equity), Kosmos (global credit) and market neutral funds Agora (European equity), Alphanatics-Diversified Alpha (multi-strategy) and Phoenix (Asian equity).

High Net Worth Companies, include:

(i) a body corporate which has a called-up share capital or net assets of at least £500,000 (if it has more than 20 members or is a subsidiary of a parent undertaking with more than 20 members) or, in any other case, at least £5 million;

(ii) an unincorporated association or partnership which has net assets of at least £5 million;

(iii) the trustee of a trust with assets (before deducting any liabilities) of at least £10 million or which were at least £10 million within the previous year; or

(iv) a person acting in his capacity as a director, officer or employee of a person of a type described in paragraphs (i) to (iii) above (i.e. he must not be acting on his own personal account) whose responsibilities, when acting in his capacity as a director, officer or employee of such person, involve him in engaging in regulated activities as defined in the FSMA.

Financial Advisers and Wealth Managers, include:

Persons that are authorised by the relevant authorities in the UK to act as a professional investor or financial adviser

Persons who do not meet these criteria cannot proceed any further and must leave the website.
